Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. We do not and will not use Al at any point. We find that such tools have difficulty with keeping the original data intact and explaining their work.
-
No. Collecting your own data is a core part of doctoral training. We step in once your data is in hand to help you analyze, visualize, and explain it.
-
No. Writing others' academic work is a violation of academic integrity and the Honor Code of many universities.
-
Yes. Getting expert help with data analysis is a normal, accepted part of dissertation work. We stay firmly within academic integrity standards: we help you analyze and understand your own data, but the research, writing, and ideas stay yours. Policies vary by program, so if you're unsure, check with your committee, we're always happy to be disclosed to your advisor.
-
Yes, and that's exactly what we're here for. We explain every step in plain English. What we did, why, and what it means, so you can walk your committee through the analysis and field their questions with confidence. You should never have to defend work you don't understand, and with us you won't have to.
-
It is customary to give a brief acknowledgement, but the format and content can depend on your program.
Academic Integrity
-
No. Our work is the data, analyzing it, visualizing it, and helping you explain it clearly. The writing of your dissertation stays with you and your advisor.
-
Yes! Good visuals do a lot of heavy lifting in a dissertation. We build charts, graphs, and figures that present your results accurately and read cleanly, and we format everything to your program and style-specific requirements so it's submission-ready.
-
We primarily use Excel and RStudio for data analysis and visualization, Tableau for other data visualization, and Final Cut Pro for audio-visual editing. We are comfortable with most statistical packages and will work with whichever better fits your data.
-

We need these four things to start working
A clear understanding of your deadline so we can plan the work around it.
A complete description of your project to give us context for the analysis.
A comprehensive communication and meeting plan.
The data and/or files you'd like us to work on, in whatever format you have them.
Check out our “How It Works” page for more information.

We'll clean your dataset and return the cleaned version at the end. Incomplete data is harder, but we'll help you make the best of what you have, point out where gaps might affect your results, and advise on how to address them. The analysis can only go as far as your data does, so we'll be upfront about any limits.
-
Yes, we are happy to work on master's theses and capstone projects.
-
We work with both qualitative and quantitative data. We're open to working within most disciplines, since the underlying analysis skills, cleaning, modeling, visualizing, and explaining, transfer across fields.
-
Yes! Please be aware that our data analysts only speak English, but we are open to non-native English speakers. Non-native speakers may find more value in the Narration Support package to make sure that their technical academic writing reads correctly to a native speaker.
-
Narration Support helps you explain your own work more clearly. For students writing in a second or third language, that means language support so your technical writing reads naturally to a native English reader. For others, it means helping dense, discipline-specific writing land with a broad committee. Either way, we advise and give feedback, we don't write it for you. The words stay yours, and we never write or rewrite your dissertation.
Process & Scope
-
Our initial analysis usually takes about two weeks, with more complex projects running longer. We'll set a clear timeline at the start. We can often handle tight deadlines too, rush projects carry a higher upfront rate for priority scheduling. The earlier you reach out, the more we can do.
-
Yes, many students are behind on deadlines and stressed. Reach out to us as soon as you can to make sure we can do as much as possible. We’ll be upfront about what’s realistic and achievable in your timeframe, and we won’t overpromise. Even on a tight turnaround, there's often more we can do than you'd think.
-
Our data is handled only on our company-owned computers, so no one outside our team has access to it. We don't upload it to third-party services or shared platforms. We also automatically delete your original data and files within three months of completing your project, unless you ask us to keep them longer. And if your work involves sensitive information or human-subjects data, we're happy to sign an NDA.
-
Exactly what you'll receive depends on your project, and we'll confirm the specifics with you upfront. Everything comes cleaned, properly formatted, and delivered in the format you need. For a typical data analysis and visualization project, that means your cleaned dataset, the completed analysis explained in plain English, and your finished visualizations, all ready to drop straight into your dissertation.
